HOCKEY: Chiltern fight back for point

Chiltern Ladies were held to a 2-2 draw at Welwyn in their Women’s Five Counties League Division Two clash at the weekend.

The visitors were missing a handful of players as Bethany Carlisle, Holly Steward, Karen Murphy and Vicky Spencer stepped up from the IIs, with all turning in excellent displays.

Chiltern quickly went 2-0 down, which led to a stern talking to from skipper Ayres during half time who had been watching from the sidelines.

After the break, Chiltern had to play with 11 onfield players as keeper Katie Williams injured her knee.

Despite their disadvantage, Chiltern drew level with star performer Donna Brown slotting home twice.

The team were also indebted to second XI skipper and keeper Hayley Murphy who went in goal later in the second half, making some brilliant saves to ensure Chiltern a share of the spoils.
