HOCKEY: Luton held in eight goal thriller

Luton Town HC Ladies were held to a thrilling 4-4 draw by Bedford IIIs in their Five Counties League Premier Division meeting.

On target for Luton were Clare Shaw, two from Charlotte Dunham, while Rachael Shadbolt also netted in her first game for the first team.

The IIs lost 9-1 at Bishop’s Stortford IVs in Division Three, with the consolation scored by Rebecca Blanchett.

The men’s teams lost all their matches with the firsts beaten 3-1 at home by Berkhamsted, the seconds 2-1 at Bishop’s Stortford IIIs and the thirds 4-3 at home to Bishop’s Stortford Vs.

The Juniors played their first tournament of the season at Bedford Hockey Club.

The U10s with a mix of players didn’t lose a game or concede a goal against some strong teams.

They played some excellent hockey to earn 0-0 draws against Bedford and Shefford.

Luton then won their final game 2-0 against Letchworth with goals from Tom Ryan and Indiana D’Cruz.

The U12s had mixed fortunes with two losses against Cambridge and a 1-1 draw against St Ives, Jack Ryan scoring.
