HOCKEY: Luton ladies go joint top

Luton Town ladies moved joint top of the Five Counties Women’s League Premier Division by winning 2-0 at St Albans IVs.

The visitors moved in front after some fantastic work from Sinead Collins was rewarded with her first goal of the season.

After the break, with conditions against them, Luton held firm, but still managed to extend their lead when an excellent short corner from Rochelle Lewsey was finished by Jordan Homann.

The IIs lost 4-0 at West Herts IVs in Division Three, although the scoreline didn’t reflect Luton’s efforts.

The visitors had their moments with some excellent passing and a number of good strikes in the D, but failed to hit the target, while three of Herts’ goals came from penalty corner strikes.

The men’s first team drew 3-3 against Bedford IIs in their East Men’s Hockey League Division Two South clash.
