HOCKEY: Luton ladies held by Welwyn

Luton Town ladies were held to a 2-2 draw at Welwyn in their Five Counties Women’s League Premier Division clash at the weekend.

The hosts took the lead early on, but Luton hit back to level through Jordan Homann. Welwyn responded andf lead 2-1, before Suzanne Starkey made it 2-2, while keeper Amber Lewsey ensured the visitors earned a share of the spoils.

In Division Three, Luton IIs enjoyed a 1-0 win over Broxbourne IVs thanks to a fine attacking performance, with Kaitlyn Bright scoring the only goal.

Luton men suffered a hefty 9-1 defeat at Chelmsford in East Men’s League Division Two South, Garry Newman on target.

The IIs ran out 2-1 winners at home to Royston IIs in Division Four South West with goals by Sam Coombes and Stephen Condell, while keeper Will Maidment saved a penalty flick.

In Division Seven South West, Luton IIIs and IVs played each other, with the IIIs running out 2-1 winners.
