HOCKEY: Luton Town HC ease past St Albans

Luton Town ladies were impressive 3-0 home winners over St Albans IVs in their Five Counties League Premier Division clash on Sunday.

Following numerous chances, Suzanne Starkey opened the scoring as Luton led 1-0.

In the second half, Charlotte Dunham managed a breakaway goal and Suzanne Starkey had her second from a well-worked short corner.

A newlook IIs fell to a 3-0 defeat at Letchworth IVs in Division Three.

Under the leadership of new captain Kerri Stinton, Luton found themselves a goal down in the first 10 minutes.

New goalkeeper Shannon Smith was the star player for the visitors, who missed a handful of opportunities to level, before Letchworth added a second.

Luton kept going in the second period, but after injury saw them a player short, the hosts scored again.

Luton triumphed 3-2 over Harpenden IIs in their first East Men’s League Division Three South West clash which was played on Saturday.

Harpenden took the lead midway through the first half as Luton came close to a leveller when Jack Madden’s effort was cleared off the line.

The visitors were back in front after the break, only for Luton to equalise once more through Madden, before Cameron Sarrington’s cross was converted by Luke Titmus for a late winner.

In Division Four South West, Luton’s IIs were 4-2 winners at Harpenden IIIs.

A six-goal thriller saw the IIIs held 3-3 at home by West Herts VIs in Division Seven South West.

New captain Russell Maidment saw goalkeeper Thomas Briggs make some smart saves before the visitors went in front.

Robert Maidment then levelled, while Sam James put his side 2-1 in front.

Alex Robinson bagged another after the break, but two late goals saw West Herts hit back to draw.
