HOCKEY: Mixed bag for Luton Town HC

Luton Town’s teams were in action at the weekend as they continued their pre-season friendlies.

The ladies’ firsts and seconds were both away against Broxbourne HC as the firsts lost a tight game 2-0 and the seconds were beaten 4-1.

The men’s first team travelled to the City of Peterborough, where they picked up a positive 2-1 victory.

There was no game for the seconds, as it was called off, while the thirds were defeated 3-0 at home by Waltham Forest.

The Junior Club Academy continues on Sundays from September 20, 9.30-11am at Challney Girls School.

Meanwhile, Luton are holding their annual Open Day Hockey Fest this Sunday.

The event, held at Challney Girls School from 10am, is for any beginners, or junior players U14, who are interested in taking up the sport.

Equipment is available to borrow, while the junior session of the day ends at 11.30am, followed by a BBQ, Giant Jenga, Connect 4, face painting plus various stalls – cakes, hockey equipment and kit.

The seniors follow on with mixed seven-a-side games at 12.15pm until 2.30pm, with all abilities and ages welcome.
