Luton looking at ex-Liverpool, Everton and West Ham man
DON Hutchison is the latest player to try and win a place at Hatters as boss Kevin Blackwell continues to cast his eye over potential new signings.
Former Liverpool, Everton and West Ham man Hutchison, 36, is currently without a club having been released by Coventry in the summer.
The experienced campaigner has been training with Luton – but Blackwell is keen to point out that Hutch is just one of a host of players who have been in contact since Town's hectic transfer activity.
The Town manager told Luton Today: "Don is here training with us and we're having a look at whether we can do anything with him.
"But to be honest, since we announced the latest signings last week, the interest in Luton Town has gone through the roof.
"I've had people phoning me and agents calling me offering me some very good players, which is what I want. People are now beginning to realise we're serious about what we're doing here."
Blackwell is still waiting on a bid lodged last week for an unnamed 'big, experienced striker' and is not counting out further acquisitions.
The 48-year-old is now in Cyprus for a training camp, which is hoped to include a friendly game in Nicosia tonight (Wednesday).
He has taken a squad of 22 players for the trip including trialists Daryl Fordyce, Martin Brittain and a winger from Malaga.
Blackwell said he would be looking at three further trialists on his return, with the trio likely to play against Hitchin on Saturday.
The squad for the Cyprus trip did not include Sol Davis or Paul Underwood, who both have injuries.
Latest signings Darren Currie, Paul Furlong, Chris Perry and Paul Peschisolido – whose move should be officially confirmed this week – have also stayed behind to catch up with pre-sesaon training, but should feature in the weekend's Hitchin clash.
