Iconic Gaelic Football boss Mickey Harte coming to Luton

Gaelic Football manager Mickey Harte is set to give footballers from St Vincent’s GAA in Luton a sporting masterclass, writes Mark Wood.

His tour of Luton coincides with heavyweight fighter Tyson Fury’s promotional work in the area as he is using Luton as his training base in the build up to his Commonwealth and British Heavyweight title challenge.

Harte, pictured above, is also mentoring 28-year-old Irish lightweight Damian Taggart who will be fighting on the same bill as Fury at Wembley Arena on Saturday, July 23.

Trainer at Shamrock Gym, Mervyn Turner, who has helped to arrange the visit, said: “From his Irish background that’s where Mickey Harte comes in.

“Mickey Harte has come over because he is mentoring a young boxer. It’s a pleasure to have someone of his stature visiting Luton.”
