Nearest rivals Barman’s Brew, comprising Kevin McCarthy, Christine Ballester, Sean Donachy, Gwyn Ruddock and Fred Brown also lost despite taking an early lead in their game.

Opponents Measuring Up, made up of Kevin Whadcoat, Jenny Brown, Paul Denton, John Emerson, and Maureen Swainston, found their line and length to win 18-17 on the last end.

On Saturday, the annual triples competition for the Memorial Trophy was won by club captain Pat Moore, lady captain Maureen McCaffrey and newcomer David Wagstaff, who scored 61 points to finish just ahead of their nearest rivals.

The previous weekend the Club Captains’ Day prizes went to Linda O’Brian as top lady and Stan Pedder as top man.
