LADIES FOOTBALL: AFC held while Hatters suffer defeat

AFC Dunstable Ladies were held to a 1-1 draw at Hoddesdon Owls in their Eastern Region Women’s League Division One South on Sunday.

The visitors should have secured victory, as they dominated from the first whistle, but the hosts opened the scoring from close range, while AFC had two penalty shouts for handball turned down.

Dan Carty restored parity with a 20 yard free kick, but chance after chance went begging.

The second half was much of the same, with AFC spurning a host of opportunities as Hoddesdon only managed one shot on target easily saved by AFC keeper Emma Fisher.

AFC host Royston this weekend.

Luton Town Ladies were soundly beaten 9-0 at home by C&K Basildon in their South East Womens Combination League clash on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the reserves lost 3-0 at home by Garston in their London & SE Regional Womens League and Greater London Womens Football League Division One game.
