LADIES FOOTBALL: AFC hold leaders

AFC Dunstable Ladies’ top-of-the-table clash with Eastern Region Division One South leaders C&K Basildon Ladies ended in a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

The hosts moved ahead early on as keeper Emma Fisher conceded a penalty that Ashley Debnam converted.

AFC reacted well though and, after a couple of near misses, Tracy Blake slid in to finish off a superb team move that involved Katie Ross, Julia Ladbrooke, Steph Fisher, Carly Cowell, and Dionne Manning.

Luton Town Ladies were well beaten on Sunday as they lost 7-0 in their South East Women’s Combination League clash at QPR.

Town’s reserves were without a London & SE Regional Womens League and Greater London Women’s League clash at the weekend.

Offley & Stopsley Women overcame Crawley Green Ladies 8-1 in the second round of the Bedfordshire Women’s Cup at the weekend.

Rachel Lewis and Emma James both scored braces, while Fiona Day, Leanne Stevens plus Jennifer Matthews were also among the scorers.
