LADIES FOOTBALL: Hatters fall to Crystal Palace

Luton Town Ladies were knocked out of the FA Women’s Premier League Plate after losing 5-0 to league leaders Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Hatters had their chances early on as Tasha Fensome and Erica Byron started well, while Town keeper Rachel Evans made a great save too.

However, Palace took the lead midway through the half, with Jess McKay deflecting a corner into her own net and another rebound put the hosts 2-0 up before half time.

Tamera Bayne fired over, while Fensome went close and in the second half Shanice Jiminez was back on the field again after a long-term injury.

Palace were to prove too strong though as they made it 3-0, before scoring twice more in the final 10 minutes.

Manager Nikki Baker said: “Overall Palace were just too clinical in all areas for us. It is disappointing to cave in like that as I thought we had some good spells, especially in the second half.

“We learnt some lessons and we can take those into the league.”

Hatters are at home to Acle United on Sunday.
