Hatters started strongly and almost went in front when Erica Byron’s cross flashed across goal.

They were ahead on 14 minutes though when Michelle Byrne found skipper Shanice Jiminez whose shot was parried allowing Rebecca Kane to convert the rebound.

It was swiftly 2-0 as Kane was fouled 25 yards out and Zara Carroll smashed the free kick into the roof of the net.

The third arrived five minutes before the interval, when Nicky Livingstone sent Kane away and her cross was perfect for Byrne to find the bottom corner.

Town’s perfect half was then complete as Kane set off on a mazy run and found Carroll who half volleyed past the keeper.

After the break, Angelika Kopec, standing in for injured keeper Hollie Staples, was a virtual spectator, although Town couldn’t add to their tally despite chances for Remii Baines, Byrne and Carroll.

There was time for Lydia Radley to make her comeback after being out with a broken arm, while Stacie Gross made her debut.

Manager Nikki Baker said “I am absolutely delighted with the result and performance. Losing last week was a major blow to the morale for the team, we worked hard at training and it showed.

The club’s U16s hammered bottom side Toddington 11-0 on Saturday.

Player of the match Chloe Fitzsimmons and Phoebe Brown both bagged four goals, while Scarlett Pattenden and Eireann O’Donoghue were on target.

Chloe Harrop scored the goal of the game when she went on a great run before driving in a fierce low shot from the edge of the area.
