It was swiftly 2-0 as Kane was fouled 25 yards out and Zara Carroll smashed the free kick into the roof of the net.

The third arrived five minutes before the interval, when Nicky Livingstone sent Kane away and her cross was perfect for Byrne to find the bottom corner.

Town’s perfect half was then complete as Kane set off on a mazy run and found Carroll who half volleyed past the keeper.

After the break, Angelika Kopec, standing in for injured keeper Hollie Staples, was a virtual spectator, although Town couldn’t add to their tally despite chances for Remii Baines, Byrne and Carroll.
