Lancaster BC hold annual awards
Lancaster Avenue Bowls Club held its annual presentation evening last Saturday, with 22 members receiving awards. Bowler Of The Year was club secretary John Millard, wining the Open Singles, the Two Woods, and Drawn Pairs competition, partnered by Carole Spalding.
In a thrilling Men’s Singles final, Millard lost on the last end when holding two shots, but his opponent, club captain Pat Moore, edged his last wood closer to the jack to take the title by a whisker. Christine Ballester took the Ladies Singles prize.
Formal coaching early in the season, in conjunction with Team Beds and Luton ‘Get Back Into’ programme, produced enough new members for a Newcomers Competition with Chris Smith beating Charles Caulfield in the final.
