Late controversy denies Luton RFC victory

Luton Rugby’s young side gave another spirited performance to draw 13-13 at Brentwood in their London One North clash on Saturday.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 11th minute when stand-off Charlie Chambers kicked a penalty.

Luton hit back 10 minutes later as Tesh Edwards went over with Aidan Kenny converting.

Brentwood regained the lead in the 32nd minute with a controversial try that was converted by Chambers to make it 10-7 at the break.

Chambers kicked his second penalty on 50 minutes, but Luton reduced the deficit on the hour when Kenny kicked a penalty.

They drew level thanks to the boot of Kenny shortly afterwards and were denied a late winner when Andre Paku was adjudged to have put his foot into touch when scoring.

This weekend, Luton host Eton Manor for the first time and prior to the game they will be holding their first vice president’s lunch of the season.
