LDSC go into the match hoping to do even better than last year’s creditable third place finish.

Captain Steve Davies said: “Last year’s adventure has certainly whetted the appetite for more. Our top players Daryl Selby and Adrian Waller have had tremendous starts to the season.

“Daryl in particular recorded a fabulous win over former world number one, Karim Darwish, last week at the World Championships in Manchester.

“Diana’s are a bit of an unknown quantity and we are hoping that we have enough quality without those players who are competing in Qatar at the moment.

“We learned a lot last season from our first effort in the competition and we made such an impact we were described by the influential Squash Magazine as a ‘heavyweight club’. This year we aim to justify that tag.”

Number one string for this match, Adam Auckland, whose world ranking has shot up to 124 after a summer tour to Australia, is looking forward to the challenge, adding: “Representing LDSC is a real honour and I will strain every sinew to get to the finals weekend.”

The match starts at Lewsey Sports Park at 7pm, entrance is free and all support is welcome.
