Leagrave Junior School battle it out for chance to impress Zinedine Zidane

On Saturday, 10 teams of U11 small schools including Leagrave Junior School will head to London Marathon Playing Fields, Greenwich to battle it out to win a place in the ESFA Danone Nations Cup Finals in May.

Victory would take them one step closer to representing their country in the Danone Nations Cup World Final in front of FIFA World Cup champion and Danone Nations Cup ambassador Zinédine Zidane.

Over 4,000 school teams have competed across the UK and following the regional finals and in attendance at the South East regional finals will be Ellen White, striker for England and Arsenal Ladies.

She said: “The Danone Nations Cup is a great opportunity to introduce local schools to football at a competitive regional level. I’m very honoured to be invited to, not only be a part of, but to witness this fantastic event.

“I’m a big supporter of initiatives that endorse physical activity and healthy eating. You never know there may even be potential front runners for the official England squad in later years to come.”
