Luton totalled 154.5pts last Sunday as they beat Ipswich by just five points.

An early personal best for Potton-Burrell in the hammer set the tone as he was second behind UK number one U20 Callum Brown.

Josh Bada and Aderian Bright claimed a double victory in the 100m, adding further points in the 200m, while Rhys Lewis and Jahmal Williams were second in the 400m.

Lewis then led from the front to win the 800m, while 400m runner Danny Bottesch cruised to fourth in the B race.

Shane Jay and Paul Brooks added further points in the 3,000m, while there were notable wins for Jamie Baughan in the B long jump and Ola Fisayo in the A triple jump, before Fisayo was second in the A long jump as was Baughan in the A high jump.

Burrell and Potton-Burrell came second in the shot and javelin, while in the discus, veterans Burrell and Geoff Grinsted were second.

With no points update available the pressure was on the 4X100m relay team and they duly delivered, with Bada sealing the win.

Luton had five out of the seven age groups qualify for the finals, but the U13 girls, U15 boys, U17 men and ladies didn’t make the top three.

There were PBs for U13s Ashlee Billington, Lucy Burton and Alyssa Grinsted, U15s Joseph Hubbock, Che Stephen and Luke King, U17s Louis Hazel, Tope Fisayo and Luke Whitby plus ladies Jazmine Barnett and Keely Grinsted.

Jo Blair, meanwhile, threw 46.15m in the javelin in the match at Colchester to break the ladies league record which had stood for over 10 years.
