Luton AC finish in fourth spot

A depleted Luton AC, supported by Luton Rotary Club, came fourth in their first Southern Athletics League match of the season at the weekend.

The fixture was won by last year’s champions Southampton with 253.5 points, followed by home club Andover and Overton with 182, Havering & Mayesbrook with 141 and then Luton with 122.5.

The ladies contributed most points on the day, with middle distance athlete Sophie Billington and thrower Sue Wise being the highest scorers.

Billington ran a season’s best 2.15.1mins in winning her specialist event, the 800m, while she was ably supported in the B race by Rosie Canham, who came home third.
