Luton HC suffer heavy defeat

Luton Town went down to a 4-0 defeat against Blueharts IIs in their East Men’s League Division Two South clash at the weekend.

The visitors had the lion’s share of possession in the first half, but failed to capitalise on numerous penalty corners as they trailed 1-0 at the break.

After the interval, Luton keeper Tom Dobson was beaten again, before his side found themselves a man down due to a yellow card.

Another mistake from Dobson saw Luton 3-0 behind and their frustration boiled over as they were reduced to 10 men again, before conceding late on.

A heated top-of-the-table Division Four South West clash saw Luton Town IIs fall to a 3-1 defeat at Vauxhall.

The hosts were quick off the mark and went 3-0 up within the first 30 minutes.

Despite Sam Coombes finishing off a short corner before half time to make it 3-1, Luton couldn’t break the opposition down in the second half, even though Vauxhall had three yellow cards throughout the game.

Luton Town IIIs hammered Southgate Adelaide IIIs 5-0 at home in Division Seven South West, while the IVs lost 4-3 at MBDA.

The visitors started slowly and fell behind, before levelling the scores when Will Madden found Sam James and his shot was fumbled into the net.

The second half saw MBDA quickly move into a 4-1 lead, but that spurred Luton into action.

A driving run by Bob Maidment saw him tee up skipper Phil Bright to score his sixth goal of the season.

Luton proceeded to dominate and Cameron Bright saw one shot tipped over, although his next attempt flew into the net, making it 4-3.

The visitors pressed for an equaliser and almost grabbed it, only for the MBDA keeper to pull off a superb reflex save.

Luton Town ladies lost their clash against Five Counties Women’s League Premier Division leaders Leighton Buzzard 5-2.

The first half saw Luton trail 3-2 with Becky Clarke and Charlotte Dunham on target.

In the second period, the hosts put in plenty of effort, but couldn’t find the net again as Buzzard scored twice more to seal victory. Player of the match went to Jordan Homman.

The IIs also suffered defeat as they lost 4-0 against Leighton Buzzard IIIs in Division Three.

Luton’s defence worked hard throughout the game with great saves from keeper Rosie Saxton, who was voted player of the match for her efforts.
