Luton stick four past Bedford

Luton Town began their East League Division Three South West campaign with a 4-1 victory over Bedford at the weekend.

The hosts took the lead thanks to Bryn Owen’s deft touch after Cameron Sarrington’s cross.

A wave of Luton attacks followed as Martin Kavanagh’s blast made it 2-0 at half time.

After the break, Bedford were denied by new central defensive duo Alex Powell and Kurtis Pitchford, before a stunning strike saw them halve the deficit.

Midfielder Matt Corder restored the two-goal lead though, before Luton keeper Tom Dobson stood firm under some late pressure allowing Kavanagh to net from a penalty corner late on.

Luton Ladies won the Vauxhall Chiltern Seven-A-Side Tournament on Sunday.

The first game ended in a goalless draw with Leighton Buzzard, before Luton then got the better of Chiltern (1-0), Letchworth (2-0) and Royston (4-0).
