Luton Town HC celebrate successful season

Luton Town HC held their annual presentation evening recently.

Hayley Huckle won the Ladies First Team Player of the Year award, with Helen Beattie claiming the second XI trophy.

The Men’s First Team honour went to Tom Dobson, with the seconds’ to William Maidment, thirds’ to Sam Herbert and fourths’ to Kailum Mistry.

Suzanne Starkey and Daniel Shearer were the the Ladies and Men’s Top Goalscorer, while Young Players’ of the Year went to Leah O’Shaughnessy, Amber Lewsey and Herbert.

Most Improved Players were Kaitlyn Bright and Robert Shearer, while Team of the Year was the Ladies first X1, who narrowly missed out on promotion from the Five Counties Premier League by just one point.

Club awards went to James Wallis, Rebecca Blanchett and Daniel Shearer, to recognise the work they put in behind the scenes, while the Ron Daniels Award for Junior Development was won by Chris Ryan.

The club’s very first Lifetime Achievement was awarded to Tricia Murphy who has been involved with the club for more than 30 years and taken on countless roles.

Meanwhile, Luton entered two teams into the recentShefford and Sandy tournament and and came away with an impressive two gold medals. The U8s won their three matches, scoring nine and conceding two.

Ellie Shadbolt netted four, while Joshua Akerman (2), Ryan Siddons (2) and newcomer Tom Ryan all scored, with superb support from Kate Starkey, Zoe Warner and Seb Singh Barr.

The U10s team also won all their five matches, though after a slow start, a goal by Jack Ryan saw the floodgates open with 41 scored in total.

None were conceded either thanks to some outstanding team play from Emma Halsey, Indian D’Cruz, Zack Grinsted plus Jack and Charlie Ryan

Meanwhile, the club’s Luton junior section held their annual Family Fun day recently, with the youngsters defeating the parents 3-1.
