Mead to take on Ian Poulter

Luton youngster Matthew Mead will play against Ian Poulter at the seventh Ian Poulter Invitational today.

Mead, who plays off a handicap of four at Caddington Golf Club, is among 100 rising junior stars from across the UK to take part in the event at the Marquess Course at Woburn Golf Club.

Players will have the chance to get some one-on-one coaching time with Poulter as well as tips and practical advice.

Prizes will be awarded for the best gross and nett scores, along with best dressed and best haircut, as Poulter said: “It’s always such a special day to be able to get some of the best junior golfing talent together and give them an opportunity I never had.

“I love being out on the course with the kids, being able to chat with them and seeing their genuine enthusiasm for the game. It’s a great experience for the juniors and a really refreshing day for me.”
