Luton boxer Kay Prosper has hailed David Haye for his help in preparing to fight at the 02 Arena this evening.
Prosper was hand-picked for the undercard of Haye’s comeback clash with Mark de Mori, as he looks to make it seven straight pro wins against Lee Connelly.
“It helps as he’s been there and done it, and it can only be beneficial if he helps us, which he has done.”Kay Prosper
The 31-year-old was quick to pay tribute to the former WBA World Heavyweight champion Haye for his words of wisdom ahead of the bout as he said: “David’s been very supportive of me and all the other boys who are fighting on the undercard.
“I’ve had conversations with him about how to deal with the situations, and how things are going to go on the day as obviously, you expect it to be a bit different; different people around, people coming into your changing room.
“It helps as he’s been there and done it, and it can only be beneficial if he helps us, which he has done.”
Prosper, who is sponsored by itap electrical services, JB Interiors Ltd, Launch Insurance Brokers and Smart Trade Solutions Ltd, can also see similarities between himself and the Hayemaker too.
He added: “I’ve always liked David, always thought he’s the kind of fighter I can look up to and is similar to my actual style.
“Because with David, he’s got awesome punching power but is also very quick and got good movement.
“Like when he fought Wladimir Klitschko, Wladiimir was hard to dominate, as he’s such a big guy, so he went on his movements and then he boxed (Nikolay) Valuev that way as well.
“I’m the same kind of fighter, I’ve got good punching power, but also got good movement and good style.
“So I really tailor my style to him, as I say you can punch and take people out, but you’ve also got to box as well.
“He carries himself well, has good charisma, good character and is a positive role model too.”
