Luton and Dunstable Squash Club’s second team enjoyed a home win over Bunyan IIs in their Beds League clash last week.
With seeds two to five all below 18 years of age for the home team, this was a real testament to the work that has gone into the junior section at the club over the past few years.
LDSC’s Sean Davies and Sam McCoy were first up at numbers four and two in the order against Stuart Bithry and Ivan Schimanski.
McCoy looked back to his brilliant best as he took the match 3-0, but things were very different for Davies, who despite playing some of his finest squash, ended up losing 3-1.
Amy Rigby took on Stewart Williams at number five and came close in games one and three, pushing her opponent harder than she has in the past, before he triumphed 3-0.
Things were looking pretty desperate at one point as Luton’s George Allen, fresh from a successful debut for the full county team at the weekend, was 2-0 down to Mark Tentori, before fighting back superbly to win 3-2.
With the match now 2-2, it all came down to the number one string match, with Steve Davies against Nathan Derrick, as Davies won 3-1 to seal victory.
