NETBALL: Red Devils are too strong for Tornadoes

The Cup final pitted Red Tornadoes against Red Devils.

Both teams were fielding players who had participated earlier in the week in the Bedford finals.

In the first quarter Tornadoes had the centre pass but could not score and this allowed Red Devils to take a 9-6 lead.

Tornadoes kept fighting in the second quarter but it wasn’t enough as they trailed 19-15.

However in the third quarter the Tornadoes were relentless and caught up to level the match at 25-25.

In the fourth quarter both teams were on a mission, the Tornadoes’ defence were intercepting and blocking but the Devils attack were relentess and they were eventual 38-31 winners, recording a ninth victory.

The Plate saw the Green Tornadoes take on the Leighton Buzzard Harriers.

In the first quarter Tornadoes had first centre but did not score, as Harriers seized the opportunity and this led to them winning 12-3.

Tornadoes were still unsettled in the second quarter which saw Harriers forge 20-9 ahead.

In the third quarter Tornadoes finally settled and got scoring but still could not overtake Harriers, who made it 27-17.

In the final quarter, Harriers were a goal scoring machine and Tornadoes could not respond, as Leighton Buzzard triumphed 42-26.
