Anna Balducci went down injuring her hip, however she carried on until the last quarter when the pain proved unbearable.

The second quarter saw Pinks pull away, but Lilacs continued to apply pressure, taking a number of interceptions, while the ball was continually tipped away by Saffa Abas, as Hollie Thompson also went over on her ankle.

The scores widened in the third period as Pinks continued to pull away by making space in the circle.

Lilacs enjoyed their most prolific quarter as they showed plenty of determination and grit, while Lilacs were clearing and driving, making a number of interceptions through their marking game.

Pinks’ Paige Tomlin injured her shoulder with just 30 seconds left, but battled on as six-against-six lined up for the fourth quarter, before deciding she couldn’t continue.

Balducci then also had to retire as the match was reduced to a five-a-side contest.

Both teams played their hearts out, however the stamina of the older Pinks won out in the end.
