Luton Diving Club is beginning to reap the benefits of a change of management with some excellent triumphs this season.
The club appointed Sam Buck as diving development officer and head coach for Active Luton and Luton Diving Club, with former 2008 Olympic diver Hayley Sage now the performance diving coach.
Speaking about their roles, Sage said: “Sam and I have great aspirations for Luton Diving Club and believe that we can progress the divers to a higher level improving the lessons scheme and introducing a pathway from lessons to the club.
“Sam is an experienced diving manager and coach, as he was the manager and head coach at Cambridge for nine years.”
The results are already showing too as Ben Cutmore, who moved to Luton after Buck took on his new role, recently competed in the Elite National Championships GB.
The youngster had a fantastic performance smashing his opponents on the platform board by a huge 60 points to become the British champion age 12-13 years old, also taking home two silvers on one metre and three metre springboards.
The pair have also come back from Dresden, Germany in which Ben was representing Great Britain for the first time, competing up an age group in the 14-15 years old category.
He achieved a seventh place on platform and a fourth on three metre springboard, with plenty of experience gained.
Luton Diving Club took a team of eight to the East Region skills event held in Southend last month.
They brought home two golds from Joshua Bush and Elodie Roberts, a silver from Jordan Fisher-Eames aged 8-9 years and a bronze from Oliwier Slinko age 10-11 years.
A team of 16 was taken to Bradford the Shipley novice event in May as well.
A lot of experience was gained from the club’s newest members, with many in their first ever competition.
Bush took home another gold medal in the 8-9 years, while Skye Fisher-Eames, 7, picked up a first diving medal, claiming gold too.
The club how have the East Region age groups, which will qualify divers to compete at the National age group event early July in Sheffield.
Meanwhile, youngster Cutmore will be competing for Great Britain in the Bolzano, Italy open diving event in July with coach Buck, plus the club are also taking a team to a National Skills event in Southend in July.
