Victory could have sealed promotion for the London Road side, but the result saw Park remain in second, nine points clear of Long Buckby, with one match to play, although their nearest rivals have a game in hand.

Park appeared to be moving in the right direction when they went 12-0 up after 35 minutes of play.

Their first try was scored by Ieuan Beale after some good work from the forwards and converted by Stephen Pollock.

A further try followed from Trevor Fowler put Stockwood 12-0 in front.

This proved to be the turning point of the game as Stewarts & Lloyds bounced back with a well-taken score to trail 12-7.

With the wind and slope now in their favour, the home team levelled at 12-12, before Beale went over again to make it 17-12 to Park.

However, Stewarts hit back with two more converted tries to put them 26-17 ahead as although Carr kicked a penalty, the hosts added one of their own to seal a 29-20 victory.

Park’s final league game is on at home to Daventry on April 16.
