Promising weekend for Luton RFC youngsters

Luton U9s produced a fine performance full of pace and power against Leighton Buzzard at the weekend, with some excellent results.

The Red team started with a 55-15 victory in a match where they looked good going forward, with some fine off-loads and support play, but more importantly, it was their defensive work that impressed the most.

The youngsters pressured their opponents into mistakes, making some great individual tackles as there were tries for Thomas R (3), Ryan (2), Tom S (2), Josh W, Josh C, Adham and Jordan.

They then won 30-15 in their second game courtesy of scores from Ryan (3), Josh W, Thomas R and Jordan, before finishing the day by triumphing 40-25 as Adham (2), Ryan (2), Kyle, Josh W, Jordan and Tom S went over.

The Green team played some impressive rugby in their matches, starting with a 55-10 win thanks to scores for Jacob P (4), Harrison (4) and Charlie (3).

Luton were even bigger winners in the next match, securing a 55-5 triumph as Charlie (3), Mason (3), Thomas B (2), Jacob P, Harrison and Harry dotted down.

Finally, they were 40-15 victors with Thomas B (3), Charlie (2), Harrison (2) and Harry on target.

Four boys were chosen for man of the match, who were Charlie, Harrison, Ryan and Jordan, while Tom Sturrock made a great first appearance of the season, with Thomas Read and Kyle producing some superb running and off-loads.

Luton U10s travelled to Leighton Buzzard and faced a tough test from their hosts, winning two, drawing one and losing one.

Luton Cobras kicked the day off with a 25-10 victory, thanks to Toby Hunt’s hat-trick and tries from Callum Corley-Doyle and Leo Lyons.

Luton Vipers’ first match ended with an entertaining 35-35 draw that saw Kyle Waxham cap a man of the match performance with a debut hat-trick,

Keelan Coleman also bagged a treble and Charlie Dunn touched down.

Vipers last match saw them lose 25-15, with Hunt (2) and Lyons on target.

Luton U11s had a reality check against Leighton Buzzard at the weekend as they won one and lost five of their six matches.

Some Luton players paid the price for poor performances, although a few members did themselves proud, with Luke, Filip, Kai and Tyreece all impressing.
