Raiders clinch Herts Premier Division One title

Genting Raiders clinched the Herts Premier Division One Championship last week by beating Luton Fliers 91-73 at Dunstable Leisure Centre on Sunday.

Going into the top-of-the-table clash, it was Raiders who led the way and victory for Genting would see them life the title.

Luton led 20-17 at the end of the first quarter, but the visitors lost talisman Luke Patterson to injury soon after.

Ominously for Raiders, Fliers continued to pour on the pressure, outscoring Raiders 28-25 to take a six-point lead into the break as they were 48-42 ahead.

A stern dressing down from coach Leon Noel saw Raiders open the third quarter with renewed vigour. They outscored Fliers 24-8 to move 66-56 in front, as they were driven by stellar play from guards Vivian Lee and Matt Allen who rattled off 15 quickfire points between them.

This theme continued throughout the final period as Raiders displayed a confidence and poise that had deserted them in the first half, to see the game out 91-73.
