Chairman’s side wins out in Dunstablians’ annual clash

Legends, veterans, revived 45s and current senior players turned out in force for Dunstablians’ annual President’s XV v Chairman’s XV game on Saturday.

Nearly 200 supporters were treated to a game full of excellent rugby.

President Graham Bennett said: “It was a great game and a really good atmosphere – I would like to thank everyone for helping to make it a success, although my team were robbed! Here’s to a successful 2014.”

Chairman Graham Bourne added: “The attendance was fantastic, the result not important, although the Chairman’s XV won. It was a great day for rugby, good fun and was enjoyed by all that attended. Thanks to players, supporters and our many volunteers that made the day such a great success.”

A Bedfordshire Cup first round shock had seen Midlands Four East South Bedford Swifts beat Midlands Two East South side Dunstablians 32-12 last Saturday to set up a home tie with county cup holders Biggleswade in February.

With Dees’ first team in Midlands Cup action, Harvey Robjohn, Sam Richbell, Nick Halstead, Simon Bunday and Lee Walker touched down for Swifts, with Richbell kicking two conversions and a penalty.

Luton go to North Walsham in London One North on Saturday, Dunstablians head to Leicester Forest in Midlands Two East South and Stockwood Park visit Daventry in Midlands Three East South.
