Dunstablians returned to league action after the disruption due to the weather conditions with a disappointing 13-5 loss at Leicester Forest in Mildands Two East South on Saturday.

Playing into the wind in the first half and up the slope, Dees struggled to get any foothold on the game.

Forest’s burly forwards provided a solid platform for the hosts and made it difficult for Dees to get any clean ball.

The Bedfordshire side were under pressure for the majority of the first half as they trailed 13-0 at half time to a converted try and two penalties.

Dees started the second half promisingly, but failed to take full advantage of the conditions.

The visitors did score a try following a kick through by Danny Mills as Duane Hughes-Brand’s strength proved too much for the defending player as the two players attempted to touch the ball down on the line.

With Dees striving for an winning score it never materialised as the ball was frequently turned over as Dees struggled to put together enough phases to break through the Forest defence.

A club spokesman said: “It was a game where the forwards seemed to take control, but were constantly thwarted by a strong defence at both ends resulting in only one try apiece.

“As the score shows it was a relatively close game, but with the team having a break due to weather postponements, linked with team changes due to injury and unavailability, it becomes more difficult to maintain cohesion within the team.

“We have another away game this Saturday at Northampton Old Scouts and hopefully we’ll be back to winning ways.”

Dees will be looking for a vast improvement as they travel to Northampton Old Scouts on Saturday, while non-playing Luton visit Tabard in London One North.
