Queens reign against Stockwood Park

Stockwood Park suffered their first league defeat of 2014 with a 22-7 loss away at Bedford Queens in Midlands Three East South on Saturday.

Park went 12-0 down, but managed to pull a try back just before half time after a clever break by Tom Edmunds, with Kyle Jennings touching down under the posts and James Hankey slotting over the conversion.

A succession of injuries saw Park struggle to gain any momentum in the second half and Queens pushed ahead to lead 22-7.

Conditions worsened as the afternoon wore on and a tight pitch constrained any running rugby and played to the home side’s strengths.

Stockwood pressed hard in the last 15 minutes, buy struggled to convert it into points.

Park entertain Rugby St Andrews on Saturday.
