South Beds GC retain Leslie Randall Scratch Trophy
Teams from as far afield as Worthing and Gog Magog Cambridge competed for the 36-hole Scratch Team Trophy, an Individual Scratch Trophy and Handicap Prizes.
The South Beds A team of Paul Kirkwood, Miguel Moitas, Alex Bithrey and Charlie O’Brien beat the rest of the field by a commanding 12 strokes.

Hide AdTheir B team of Paul Burr, Ian Glantz, Sam Flannery and Harry Busbridge were second, just ahead of Gog Magog’s James Stammers, Andy Wool, Rob Cramsie and Jordan Hardridge in third.
The individual trophy was won by Kirkwood, ahead of O’Brien and Nick Cunningham from Bedford & County GC who were separated on 148 on countback.
The handicap prize was captured by Burr by one shot from Busbridge, who was a further shot ahead of Glantz.
The Leslie Randall Team Trophy competition was first played in 1994 and is played between invited scratch teams.

Hide AdRandall was the first South Beds member to win the County Championship in 1936 and went on to win it a further seven times.
He played county golf for 24 years, winning 10 shield championships and the County Foursomes eight times.
Randall set the course record on the old South Beds hilltop course in 1937 and went on to become county captain, club captain and president and was still winning club competitions in 1976, 45 years after his first victory.
