Scot Adam then played Stuart Bithrey as the LDSC player claimed victory in the final game, sealing the tie for his side.

Craig Basham lost 3-1 to Ivan Schimanski but it mattered little as LDSC triumphed.

The seconds headed to Bunyan’s first team as George Allen, 17, took on Julian Cooper at string three, who was struggling with a calf injury.

Level at 2-2, Allen was 11-6 up in the decider, before Cooper brought it back to 14-14 and edged home.

Fellow 17-year-old Amy Rigby was at string five as she faced Keith Waugh, led 1-0, before going down 3-1.

Steve Wells was up against John Wixted as he found it tough, losing 3-0.

Sam McCoy faced Matt Towers and although he lost the first game, fought back excellently to triumph 3-1.

It was left to Steve Davies to try and salvage a few more points from the match at number one string against Will Montgomerie, which he did with a 3-2 triumph.

Both sides are now not in action until January 4 when the firsts host David Lloyd and the seconds head to Biggleswade.
