A comprehensive victory means that LDSC now head to finals weekend in Nottingham in May where they will seek revenge against last season’s conquerors, Colets, in the semi-final.

LDSC’s Adrian Waller started the evening in fine style against Jamie Wilde, completing a comfortable win.

Next up were the top strings, world ranked number 10, LDSC’s Daryl Selby against former world 28 Tim Garner of Dulwich, as Selby ultimately triumphed 3-1.

LDSC captain Steve Davies faced Chris Clarke at fifth string and still looked hampered by a long-standing knee injury early on as he went down 2-0, but fought back to take the third game, only to lose 3-1.

Mike McLaughlin at fourth string faced Jim Bristow where the first game ebbed to and fro before McLaughlin eventually won the tie-break.

He then produced an array of winners to triumph 3-0 and deliver the tie to LDSC. The final game saw young Joe Green take on ex-professional Neil Hitchins and show some astonishing athleticism to triumph 3-0.
