Squash star Meakins returns to Luton

FORMER Luton squash star Karen Meakins, who learned her trade at the old Corals Squash Club site, has returned for the World Masters.

Meakins was one of the best female players in the area before moving to Barbados to coach 10 years ago.

Since, she has won 10-straight Barbados national titles, 11 Barbados Open titles, a silver medal in the Central American and Caribbean Games, the Caribbean Championships title and reached the final of the World Masters O35 category in 2010.

An incredible 12 months was topped off by winning the Barbados Sports Personality Of The Year in 2010 and with it gaining celebrity status on the island.

Meakins is back in the UK for the World O35 Masters Tournament in Birmingham and has returned back to her roots in Luton, as she visited the site where she used to play and got some training in with Luton and Dunstable Squash Club’s head coach Steve Davies.
