The 14-year-old Manshead School pupil, who was allowed two days off to compete, had qualified in four national level events, the 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle.

This in itself was no mean feat, as Harry was one of the youngest competitors at the event, with two levels competing Junior (up to 16-years-old) and Open (all swimmers over 16-years-old).

On the first day, the former Dunstable SC member swam a fantastic 50m freestyle in 23.9secs which resulted in him achieving the Winter Nationals Junior silver medal.

The time moved Constantine up the rankings to the third fastest ever 14-year-old in Britain for the 50m freestyle.

On the second day, he went in the 100m freestyle and the 50m backstroke.

The 50m backstroke was a great swim, but not quite a PB at 27.17secs, although Harry is now in the top five fastest ever 14-year-olds.

The 100m freestyle saw Harry produce an amazing effort, with a fantastic PB of 51.88secs to win the gold medal.

It means the youngster is now the second fastest ever 14-year-old in Britain in the 100m freestyle (25m pool).

Finally, Harry went in the 100m backstroke with another superb PB of 57.90secs, again the second fastest ever 14-year-old in Britain in the 100m backstroke (25m pool).

Harry decided to dedicate his gold medal to Tom Williams, his swimming friend, who sadly died last year.

Straight after the Winter Nationals, Constantine attended a English Swimming Camp in Liverpool to get some expert tuition from the GB Swimming Programme team.
