SWIMMING: Medals galore for Dunstable SC

Dunstable Swimming Club recently competed at the Mid Beds Swim Squad Open Meet, held at Biggleswade.

Nearly all the club’s swimmers achieved a medal, while there were some excellent personal bests too.

Harry Constantine, 13, set PBs in six of his events, including the 100m freestyle (58.21secs) and 100m breaststroke (1.19.78mins), while he also had a club record in the 200m freestyle, as Rakin Gilani, 13, set a PB in the 50m freestyle of 31.52secs.

James Hose, 13, set PBs in the 100m butterfly (1.23.60mins), 50m breaststroke (43.19secs) and 200m breaststroke (3.18.18mins), while Eleanor King, 13, swum bests in the 100m freestyle (1.04.55mins) and 100m backstroke (1.12.54mins).

Saric Lewington, 11, had bests in the 100m freestyle of 1.13.21mins and 50m backstroke (38.71secs), while Billy Mead, nine, clocked a best of 41.08secs in the 50m freestyle.

Sam Mead, 11, had three PBs in the 100m freestyle (1.11.05mins), 100m butterfly (1.28.95mins) and 100m breaststroke (1.37.74mins), while Bianka Misikova, 10, set a best in the 50m freestyle of 38.51secs.

Alexander Neeson, 14, had bests in the 100m freestyle (1.03.56mins), 200m freestyle (2.15.82mins) and 200m IM (2.38.13mins), while Sarah-Louise White, 14, managed a best in the 50m backstroke (38.05secs) as did Holly Wilks, 11, in the 200m freestyle (2.55.79mins).

Emma Yule, 15, had set a new club record too in the 50m breaststroke, breaking a record since 2005, while Emman Condon, 10, had a fine swim.

In total, Dunstable won 14 golds, with Constantine claiming six, King four, Neeson two, while Emma Yule and Sam Mead had one too. There were silvers for White, Constantine, Jamie Hose (2), Billy Mead (3), Sam Mead, Lewington (2) plus bronzes for Constantine and Jamie Hose.
