VIDEO: Meet the Luton AC athletes heading to Birmingham

Sam Bird, Eavion Richardson, Jamal Lewis and Dereece OCallaghan are all preparing to head off to the ESAA National Championships in Birmingham this weekend

Several of them are representing Bedfordshire Schools, with Jamal Lewis in the 800m Inter boy event, while Sophie Billington (800m Inter), Sam Bird (high jump), Eavion Richardson (long jump) and Gerald Matthew (200m) are all competing too.

Cherelle Hibbert goes in the high jump, while Jamie Potton-Burrell also competes in the hammer.

Both Lewis Sweeney (300m Junior) and Dereece O’Callaghan (400m Senior), who live in Luton are also heading to the event, but will be competing for Hertfordshire.

The schools event has turned out a number of members of the Team GB Olympics squad in recent years, including gold medallists Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis.
