VIDEO - Storm brewing as kickboxer Tate wins world title
Luton News videographer Natalee Hazelwood was on hand to capture highlights from the event as Tate was crowned ISKA Light Heavyweight champion by defeating holder Jean-Luc Benoit from France in the eighth round of their 12-round bout.
Luton’s second champion of the night was ex-Royal Marine Commandos Dale Hardiman who captured his first British Mixed Martial Arts title at 70kg via triangle choke in less than two minutes after a flurry of punches and kicks.

Hide AdHardiman now boasts a professional MMA record of nine wins and one loss and is to fight soon on an eight-man MMA tournament and the UK’s largest UK MMA show, BAMMA.
Emma Goodwin and Nigel Thomas from Storm Gym were unlucky in their quest for British titles with close points losses but produced impressive displays over five and nine rounds respectively.
The rest of the fight card was supported by local fighters Warren ‘Warrior’ Kirch, Adam Stevens, Matt Walker, Anjum Shah and 10-year-old Rhys ‘The Beast’ Brown, as well as fighters from other gyms from all over the country.
