Midfielder must back his ability
Sharpness and fitness are the watchwords that have propelled Hatters starlet Adam Watkins into Luton Town's first team squad.
The 17-year-old midfielder has impressed boss Mick Harford and the Luton manager is glad to be involving him with the club's senior pros.
Harford said: "He has worked hard throughout the summer. He has come back very fit and looked sharp.
"We took him down to Devon and he looked sharp and inventive and bright and he was similar against Swindon.
"He looked lively and looked like he enjoyed himself.
"He is technically very good. He is a young kid and he has been given an opportunity and I hope he takes it."
On whether Watkins can force his way into the first-team mix for the forthcoming season, Harford continued: "It's a very early stage at the moment with Adam.
"If he continues to progress as he has done and shows the same attitude I don't see why not."
And Luton fan Watkins was over the moon about scoring his first senior goal in the 3-0 defeat of Peterborough United at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
