Don’t miss Luton’s Big Night In this Saturday!

Residents can enjoy an evening of entertainment on Saturday thanks to Luton’s Big Night In, organised by Happy Shark Comedy Club.

Friday, 29th May 2020, 1:59 pm

An evening of online stand-up comedy and other surprises will take place on May 30 through the power of Zoom, and people are invited to watch the show from their living rooms.

The aim is to provide a fun evening’s entertainment for the local community, whilst also raising funds for CHUMS, a local mental health and emotional wellbeing charity that supports children and young people.

Comedy improv hip hop act, Abandoman (pictured), hilarious stand-up Carl Hutchinson and mind-blowing magician Pete Heat are all confirmed for the show, which will be hosted by star of Tonight at the Palladium, Jarlath Regan.

Organiser Adam Woulds, from Leighton-Linslade, said: “We’ve been really missing our shows at The Bear Club in Luton, where we’ve previously hosted comedy greats such as Ross Noble, James Acaster, Josh Widdicombe and Shappi Khorsandi.

“Through these shows we’ve built a really lovely community.

“The online platform allows us to continue to reach that community until it’s safe for us to gather in the flesh again, whilst also hopefully reaching a wider audience who may not have previously attended one of our regular shows.

“I’m delighted that we have such a great line up of acts that were more than keen to give up their time for such a great cause.

“Abandoman are simply the best live act in the world right now. Carl Hutchinson, is one of the funniest standups around and sells out theatres wherever he goes. Pete Heat is an unbelievable magician and Jarlath Regan is one of our favourite MC’s from our shows we do at The Bear Club.”

The show will start at 8pm and tickets are limited.

Adam added: “We’re supporting CHUMS, who do excellent work in the community. This is a really difficult time for everyone but I think it’s especially tough on children, so the work CHUMS do has become even more vital at a point where it’s harder for them to have direct contact with their users. Still they are continuing to operate and are finding new ways of supporting those who need it.”
