Orchestral manouevres in CMK

This show will begin with Khachaturian’s Suite from Spartacus.

Those of you who used to settle back with The Onedin Line, the BBC drama that held attentions throughout the 1970s, will recognise the haunting theme when it plays out.

Then the orchestra will be joined at play by Ilya Konratiev who will play Prokofiev’s first piano concerto.

Ilya is an astounding player whose talent has taken him to the leading European concert halls, and seen him win prestigious competitions including the Chopin and Liszt piano competitions in Hanover and Budapest.

The major work of the evening is Shostakovich’s 10th Symphony. A monumental challenge it is, but it’s one the sinfonia will take in its stride. Prepare for a wonderful evening of the sound-sational.
