Provisionally named The Chronicles of Nadiya, the two-part programme will take the viewer on a culinary tour from the town to a small village in Bangladesh.

Luton-born Nadiya will cook meals from her childhood, share food with family and friends and explore how food culture has changed in the country.

A broadcast date for the programme, which is being produced by the creators of Great British Bake Off, has not yet been announced.

Patrick Holland, who commissioned the forthcoming show for the BBC, said in a statement: “Nadiya’s story on Bake Off touched the hearts of the nation.

“We are delighted that she will be using her cooking skills to take us on a journey to such an extraordinary and changing land.”

Reacting to news on Twitter, Nadiya said: “It’s true, Chronicles of Nadiya! So excited to share my journey with everyone”.
