Tickets have already sold out for the screening of a hotly-anticipated Muslim comedy film in Luton next week.
American Sharia is an action-comedy which tells the story of a Muslim detective – played by American stand-up comic Omar Regan – who teams up with a traditional Muslim cop on the beat.
It follows their journey through the rise and fall of Islamophobic tensions between the police and community.
Detroit-born star Regan, who is also the film’s producer and director, said: “American Sharia is a Hollywood motion picture that sets out to use comedy to reverse the prejudices held against Islam and help promote the religion in a more positive way.”
Penny Appeal, an international humanitarian charity, will host 22 exclusive UK screenings and the UK Carnival Arts Centre in St Mary’s Road has been chosen as the Luton venue for the screening on February 13.
Aamer Naeem, Penny Appeal CEO, said: ”Our specially chosen theatres will give audiences an enjoyable and full cinematic experience.”
