The Magna Laughter crew will bring the history of Wrest Park to life for the evening, with their own brand of mirth and historical humour.

Magna Laughter’s Ben Van Der Velde will compere the evening and introduce three comics to take a historical slant to their craft.

Performing on the night will be popular satirist Andy Saltzman, who has been winning critical acclaim since his Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2001; Iszi Lawrence, who herself has a historical comedy background with the ‘Z List Deadlist’ podcast about some of the more interesting people in history; and Chris Purchase, who joins fresh from supporting Reginald D Hunter.

For the past five years, along with The Daily Show’s John Oliver, Andy has hosted the weekly satirical ‘The Bugle’ podcast, with a loyal following of over 500,000 listeners entertained by Zaltzman’s wordplay and imagery.

Ben Van Der Velde has been entertaining crowds nationwide for years. A History Graduate from Jesus College in Oxford, Ben’s interest with history is what inspired Magna Laughter’s creation.

Launched in September 2014, Iszi’s latest project, The Z List Dead List podcast about obscure people from history, has been featured on iTunes and includes guest appearance from journalists Jon Ronson, David Aaronovitch, comedians Richard Herring and Griff Rhys Jones, as well as a gaggle of historians and Qi Elves.

Tickets cost £22. Call 0370 333 1183 Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm or Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
