New parking restrictions proposed for five Luton roads

Luton Borough Council has proposed new parking restrictions and changes to disabled parking bays across several roads in the town.

The plans include introducing new double yellow lines, extending residents' parking and creating additional parking spaces on Bury Park Road.

Under the proposals, new ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions would be introduced on:

  • Barford Rise
  • Bradgers Hill Road
  • Bury Park Road
  • Raynham Way
  • Waldeck Road

On Bury Park Road, the council also plans to introduce an additional Zone B residents' parking bay, operating from Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm.

A further shared-use parking bay would be introduced, allowing both Zone B permit holders and members of the public to park.

The shared-use bay would operate from Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm, with a maximum stay of two hours and no return within one hour. Zone B permit holders would be exempt from the time limit.

The proposals would also see new six-metre-long disabled badge holder parking bays introduced outside five properties:

  • 25 Claremont Road
  • 17 Conway Road
  • 40 Duncombe Close
  • 67 Selbourne Road
  • 168 Strathmore Avenue

However, nine existing disabled parking bays would be removed from outside properties on Claremont Road, Connaught Road, Durbar Road, Hockwell Ring, Mangrove Road, May Street, Talbot Road and Wickstead Avenue.

Residents have until Wednesday, November 25 to object to the proposals. Objections should quote reference AR/TRO/P2304 and must be submitted in writing to Luton Borough Council's Highway Services Manager, or by email to [email protected].
