WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 4

Adults with learning difficulties arts and craft sessions. Every Wednesday 10.30am to 12.30pm and Saturdays from 11am to 1pm at Arttrend, Arundel Road, Luton. Social and creative activity for adults with learning difficulties, engaging in all types of art and craft work such as painting in acrylics, papier mache, salt dough, cross stitch, rug making etc. Please see the website www.arttrend.co.uk and go to Art ALD, then see the gallery of work already done.

Luton Irish Forum holds a weekly Tuesday and Wednesday Club from 11am to 1.30pm at 102 Hitchin Road.

This is a great chance to meet old friends and make some new ones. Refreshments are all included along with soda bread, scones with jam and monthly chicken and chips. Entry costs £1, plus optional £3 for two games of bingo and a raffle.

Luton Irish Forum’s Baby and Toddler group meets at 102 Hitchin Road Luton LU2 0ES every Friday from 9.30am to 11am during term time. Recommended a donation of £1 per adult and 50p per child.

The Music on Mondays series continues at Luton Library Theatre at 7.30pm with Petroc Trelawny narrating an evening called Pity of War. Three great elegiac classics for violin and piano duo composed by Elgar, Debussy and Janáček, performed by one of Britain’s leading violinists, Matthew Trusler, and the distinguished pianist Martin Roscoe. BBC Radio 3’s and Luton Music’s recently elected President Petroc Trelawny will read inspirational poems and letters by Wilfred Owen. Luton’s premier soul and jazz venue The Bear Club will host the UK launch party for Tahirah Asha Memory’s solo album Pride, accompanied by pianist Carl Hudson. Until now, Tahirah, based in Portland, USA, was best known as backing vocalist for upcoming soul sensation Jarrod Lawson as well as Grammy Award winning bass player Esperanza Spalding. Daughter of trumpeter Thara Memory, Tahirah steps up to make her mark with her debut album which is already creating a buzz amongst soul music lovers worldwide and reached number one in the UK Soul Chart this autumn.
