Luton Irish Forum holds a weekly Tuesday and Wednesday Club from 11am to 1.30pm at 102 Hitchin Road.

This is a great chance to meet old friends and make some new ones. Refreshments are all included along with soda bread, scones with jam and monthly chicken and chips. Entry costs £1, plus optional £3 for two games of bingo and a raffle.

The Music on Mondays series continues at Luton Library Theatre at 7.30pm with Petroc Trelawny narrating an evening called Pity of War. Three great elegiac classics for violin and piano duo composed by Elgar, Debussy and Janáček, performed by one of Britain’s leading violinists, Matthew Trusler, and the distinguished pianist Martin Roscoe. Luton’s premier soul and jazz venue The Bear Club will host the UK launch party for Tahirah Asha Memory’s solo album Pride, accompanied by pianist Carl Hudson. Until now, Tahirah, based in Portland, USA, was best known as backing vocalist for upcoming soul sensation Jarrod Lawson as well as Grammy Award winning bass player Esperanza Spalding. Daughter of trumpeter Thara Memory, Tahirah steps up to make her mark with her debut album which is already creating a buzz amongst soul music lovers worldwide and reached number one in the UK Soul Chart this autumn.
